1999
Savage Gardens second album, Affirmation starts to take form. Most of the songs are being written in separate continents (via email) with Darren living in New York and Daniel in Brisbane!

"Daniel and I had a conversation about the kind of album we wanted to make," said vocalist and lyricist Darren Hayes of Savage Garden's new LP Affirmation, and there were words like 'emotional', 'soundtrack to your life', 'electronic', 'organic' and 'poppy'. It seems to have come out exactly the way we planned it."

'.....'

"I just wanted to make a very clear statement. It's a very personal album all based on personal experience.

"I've never talked too much about my private life, but you don't have to be Yoda to work out that I was married and now I'm not, and a lot of the heartache on the record is talking about dealing with that.

"Maybe in retrospect I'll regret that, but at that moment I wanted an album that was lyrically very raw, and I think people can hear that sincerity."
